Patricia Apollonia Kotero is an American singer-actress and former model. Kotero was the female lead performer for Apollonia 6 and co-starred in Prince's film Purple Rain from 1984. The singer and actress named Apollonia by Prince and became one of many female artists in the '80s that benefited from her connection with Prince, the Purple One. Patricia Kotero is a Californian actress who was born in the city of Santa Monica in 1959. Her first career was being a model on television. In 1984, she was cast as the title of female lead of Prince's Purple Rain (during which time she altered her name) and was replaced by Vanity in the female trio Vanity 6 which performed in the movie with the title Apollonia 6. The trio scored a modest smash with Sex Shooter however it was as Prince's duet partner in Take Me with You from the soundtrack that she made an impact on the charts. Kotero broke up with Prince after the two fell out over the future of Apollonia 6. She was in a number of tiny films, such as the sequel to Purple Rain Under the Cherry Moon (which she declined) after which she was offered the part of Falcon Crest on the Night-Time Drama Falcon Crest from 1985-1986. Apollonia's debut album came out in 1988. The R&B and dance songs were not a huge hit by the public who purchased music. It soon disappeared. In the years that followed, she remained an active actor, with a few film appearances as well as small television shows. In 1997 Apollonia recorded a bilingual album in Spanish and English called Stay With Me. Later, she returned to college and received a filmmaking degree.
