Awkwafina
Awkwafina, an American singer and actress began with humorous rap tracks that dealt with issues of sexuality and race. Her career expanded to Hollywood after she released a series of raps. Nora Lum began her musical journey as a trumpet player. Born in Forest Hills Queens, she was the child of Chinese immigrants as well as Koreans. In the following years, she took up the classical and hip-hop genres. In her studies, she majored in journalism, and women's studies, and was learning Mandarin in Beijing for a time. She didn't start focusing on music until she finished her studies. My Vag, her track My Vag which was her response to the Mickey Avalon song My Dick, became a viral hit across the Internet and eventually appeared on her debut LP Yellow Ranger. The album also featured viral hit tracks like body positive Queef and a wink-y home tour NYC BitcheUSD. This latter song was directly linked to Awkwafina's NYC, a 2015 travel guide. Her resume included both musicians and an author. The singer was seeking to further her career in acting. She has appeared in films like Neighbors 2, Storks as well as Bad Rap. In 2018 she was able to land major roles in a variety of high-profile movies like Dude Ocean's 8 and Crazy Rich Asians. The EP came out in June.
